How serious are you?

Sadly I have come to the conclusion that many of us Christians simply don’t take the word of God seriously. In this article I’m going to present some scriptures , and then have you evaluate on just how serious you are concerning these matters.

For instance when the scriptures tell us that the Lord’s return could commence at any moment ……….do we take it seriously?Matthew 24:42 , Matthew 25:6 , Matthew 25:13 , Luke 21:36

1 Thessalonians 5:6

When Jesus says that many will come to him in that day , thinking they were on his favorites list (Matthew 7:21-23), only to find out that he never knew them , and now they have just received a one way ticket to an eternal destiny where God will not be present….do we take this seriously?

God says that if you forgive men their trespasses he will also forgive you Matt 6:14-15…..do you take this seriously , or are you still hating on some folks?

Jesus says lay not up your treasures here on earth where it can rust or be stolen , but rather lay up treasures in heaven where there is no rust or stealing. Matt 6:19-20.…… is this serious or is Jesus just joking around with us? Do you have any treasures in heaven or is your whole life built on and around the things of this world.

My friend it’s not that God doesn’t want us to have nice things , he wants us to have nice things , but just don’t get so attached to them that you forget about your eternal destiny. And what you do down here determines where you will spend eternity……please tell me you take this seriously!

When Jesus says that few people are going to make it into the Kingdom of God , do we take it seriously?

Matthew 7:13-14 - Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate , and broad is the way , that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate , and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life , and few there be that find it…….

…….I suggest you take this seriously , because Jesus is saying that there are a whole lot of folks going down the wrong path , and that there are very few who are on the right path. Which path are you on?

Matthew 16:26-27 - For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Matthew 17:6 - But whoso shall offend (cause to sin) one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck , and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Yep, probably something you should take seriously.

John 3:16

Are these not powerful words from our Lord? Some folks are walking around unaware that they have already been condemned , and will stay that way unless they repent , and call on the name of the Lord.

In the next set of scriptures , Jesus makes a statement and then asks a question……

John 11:25-26 - Jesus said unto her , I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me , shall never die. Believest thou this? Well do you believe this my friends or do you think the Lord was just making a few comments?

John 14:26- But the Comforter , which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name , he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16: 7-8 - Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart , I will send him unto you. And when he is come , he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.

John 16:13 - Howbeit when he, the Spirit of Truth (The Holy Ghost), is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.

The Father , The Son , and The Holy Spirit …….three separate beings….all making up the being named God. 1 John :5:7- For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word , and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

John 14: 23- If a man love me , he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 

The rapture of the church……..

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 -

I’m one of those who believes in the rapture of the church. I believe God’s word , it states it in the above verses , and I take it very seriously because I want to meet Christ in the air amongst the clouds. What about you?

The second coming……

Zechariah 14:3-8 - Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and towards the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountain shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee , like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah King of Judah: and the Lord my God shall come , and all his saints with thee.

Revelation19:11- 16 -

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True , and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written that no man knew, but he himself.

And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses , clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Do you take these scriptures seriously?……..

Proverbs 6:16-19 -

A proud look , a lying tongue , and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations , feet that be swift in running to mischief , A false witness that speaketh lies ,and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Judgment Day

According to scripture there is coming a day when we all will come into account concerning the life that we lived. Most folks don’t want to talk about this subject. It seems to me that those that don’t want to discuss these things are the very ones who don’t have much to do with God or his word. However those of us who love the Lord , are very much looking forward to his return. Below is one of many accounts in the bible concerning this matter.

Revelation 20:11-15 & Revelation 21:1-8 - And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away: and there was found no place for them.

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God: and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.And I heard a great a great voice out of heaven saying the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be there God.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

And he said unto me, it is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God and he shall be my son.

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and socerers , and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
